The Ecotoxicology and Aquatic Biology Research Group – A Brief Overview.
The Ecotoxicology and Aquatic Biology Research Group (EABRG) is a large, dynamic group studying the effects of established and emerging environmental contaminants on aquatic wildlife, especially fish. Key areas of research are endocrine disruption and the biological effects of nanoparticles. Our work spans investigations into the mechanisms of contaminant effects in individuals to studies that are trying to understand population-level implications for these exposures. A wide range of in vivo and in vitro techniques are employed, including digital sequencing and transgenic fish models. We have very extensive international collaborations with academic institutions, government bodies and industry and funding for this work is received for this work from UK Research Councils, The European Union, The Environment Agency, DEFRA, and various industries. |
