MUSIC / OPERA GROUP
See below for details of planned events. Please contact the
organizers for
further information.
We are sometimes asked why we do not organize parties to more
concerts. The answer is that each time we have offered a group booking
for a concert in Exeter the support has been minimal. It seems that
members are happy to acquire their own tickets and to make their own
arrangements locally, but that they appreciate not having to drive to
Plymouth or to struggle with the parking there. We have not booked
tickets for the Bristol Hippodrome recently, as members complained
bitterly about the lack of space which resulted in uncomfortable
seating particularly for those with long legs!
Finally, I should like to thank Alastair, who covers all the
tasks I
cannot do and who picks up any mistakes and general illiteracy before
the letters go out to members; Wojtek, who is a tower of strength and
copes with financial muddles; and Bruce, who makes everything so much
easier for us by organizing the car parking at the Exeter Squash and
Cricket Club.

Programme for 2013
6th December 2013 - The Rape of Lucretia
It is the centenary of Benjamin Britten's
birth and Touring Glyndebourne Opera will be honouring this by
performing his opera The Rape of Lucretia. The theatre is holding 40
tickets on our behalf (for this opera) on 6th December 2013, at 7.15.
Advance notice
In the Spring of 2014, the Welsh National Opera
Company will be giving Manon Lescaut by Puccini and we have tickets for
28th March, 2014, at 7.15. This does not conflict with Easter, as has
been the case in the last 2 years. Easter will be 18th April in 2014.
