Dear All,

The cost of wines is going up so it looks as though, despite UERSA's contribution to the cost of the church hire, an increase in the fee for the tasting may be unavoidable. One other way of boosting income is to increase the numbers attending, so do remember you can invite a friend along to any tasting for the same price per head.

Best Wishes

John

Forthcoming Events

Hello All,

Unfortunately Rebecca Mitchel is away teaching sommeliers in India over the next few months so her tasting on South African wines we have put off until October 17th at St Davids church.

I have had requests in the past for an Austrian wine tasting and have decided to take up the challenge and lead one for the group. I have booked St David's on June 13th for this event.

Di and I would like to extend an invitation to join us at home for a summer evening (hopefully sunny) get together in our garden on July 11th, as last years went well.

I will send out the usual invitations and details for these events nearer the date.

Best wishes,
John

Report

Wednesday 20th March at Exeter Majestic

We were treated to a superb selection of mainly Californian wines, last night by the Majestic team. The reds were particularly outstanding. We had a real treat with the Orin Swift Palermo (retailing at £45 a bottle as part of a 6 mix) a sumptuous smooth mouth full of cherry and raspberry.

Very many thanks to Paul, James, Nichole and their team for putting the tasting together for us which we hope we can continue on an annual basis.

For those of you who missed the tasting do try the reds, Erath Pinot Noir, Bread and Butter Reserve Cab Sav and Decoy Merlot. Of the whites Duckhorn Chardonnay was my favorite.
