FACILITIES for RETIRED STAFF

Please note: these facilities are granted at the discretion of The University. If you are accepted as a UERSA Member but are not recognized by The University as officially retired, these facilities will not be available to you.

All University of Exeter retired staff, whether or not they are members of UERSA, have access to the following facilities after retirement.

University card

All retired staff can obtain an Associate University Card; the category is shown as "Staff - Retired", and the card is obligatory for anyone wishing to use Library, Sports or I.T. facilities (see below).

Associate cards are processed by the main Reception Desk. Their telephone number is (01392) 661000, and their email address is universityreception@exeter.ac.uk

Some information on use of the card can be found on this link; however, there is no specific reference to retired staff.

Members who have an Associate Card which is approaching its expiry date will now get a reminder via email. No mention is made of retired staff specifically, but it does include YOU. If you do not reply within about six months, your card and IT/email facilities will be withdrawn.

Reception will post replacement card to your home address, or you can collect it from them weekdays between 0830 and 1730. You may be asked to supply your title, date of birth and login username.

Use of the Library

The Library offers borrowing rights to retired staff that are identical to the borrowing entitlement of working staff, i.e. up to 50 items. This compares favourably with ‘Local resident’ memberships where the borrowing limit is four books. Loans are for 7 days but renew automatically. Recalled books should be returned within a week. No fines are charged for late returns.

Retired staff can log in to online library resources via the library catalogue using the ‘single sign on’ route, when prompted, using their University of Exeter email address and password. The online Library catalogue is freely available to all users of the Library.

Retired staff can request that an Associate Unicard be printed at University Reception on the Streatham Campus. This card also functions as a library card with our self service borrowing kiosks. If you have any questions please email: library@exeter.ac.uk

IT and E-mail facilities

If you are retiring, you can retain your existing University IT account by specifying this when applying through the "IT Access" links within the Associate Management System, which can be accessed from the ‘Retiring staff’ section on this link:

Sports facilities

Sports Facilities can only be accessed with a valid University Card. Details of all the sports facilities available can be found here:

Event Exeter mailing list

Event Exeter, which represents the portfolio of venues and hospitality at the University, offers members of the Retired Staff Association benefits of their promotions, for instance 2 for 1 lunches at Reed Hall, discounted rates for Bed and Breakfast on campus for family and friends and discounted rates for UERSA members should they wish to host a function or party at the University.
To be kept informed of the latest news, events and offers from Event Exeter, please email them at: eventexeter@exeter.ac.uk asking to be added to their mailing list and stating that you are a member of UERSA. If you decide receiving the newsletter is not for you, you can unsubscribe at any time.
